It was the need to create a third bedroom that led the Clients to contact the architect. Various alternative solutions were therefore considered.

The more radical one enabled the optimisation of all the rooms in the house, but was also subject to much higher costs for the work; the other more minimal solution was the one chosen by the Clients, and only involved modifications to the living area. The third bedroom was created by reducing the size of the existing large living room. In order to maintain the size and liveability of the living room, the work involved getting rid of the small dining room and incorporating it into one single living/dining area, so although space was lost in the sleeping area, it was gained towards the kitchen.
